Friday marked a rough district opener for the Lady Rangers, losing in a heartbreaking 0-3 final score against Granbury. The first match in the set had the widest gap between the two teams, ending in 13-25, and although it didn't lead to any wins afterwards, it both helped the girls find their footing and light a fire that made them keep their opponents on their toes the rest of the night. Matches two and three were nail-biters, the final buzzer sounding at scores of 20-25 and 22-25 respectively. Mariana Garcia led the ladies with a recorded 12 kills and 17 digs, earning her a spot among those nominated for the week's Athlete of the Week poll.
Tuesday, the Lady Rangers head to Brewer for a showdown with the Bears at 6:00 p.m.
