Senior Matthias Leach traveled to Austin for the 6A State Track Meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium, where he soared to a fifth place finish, covering a distance of 47'3/4". Though the podium eluded him, the opportunity to compete at the state level was a profound honor, reflecting the immense dedication required to reach such heights. Throughout his senior year, Leach secured titles of District Champion in triple jump and high jump and set new records for Chisholm Trail in both events. He further distinguished himself as an Area Champion in both the high jump and triple jump and as a Regional runner-up in the triple jump. His outstanding achievements culminated in a well-deserved qualification for the state competition, where he clinched the fifth place spot in the triple jump. Coach Cockrell commended Leach, "He is an outstanding athlete and an even better young man. He studies all his events outside of school and is a fierce competitor. He comes to practice every day with a positive attitude and helps coach the young kids as well. Matthias is everything you want and need for your program to grow and become successful.
