Chisholm Trail Track competed at the District 3-6A Championships held at Boswell on April 3-4. The Rangers showcased their talent with several athletes advancing to the Area meet. Elijah Norwood secured the district title in the 3200m, 800m, and 1600m, while Xavier Mendez claimed third in the 3200m and fourth in the 1600m. Ezzerin Lounds earned third place in the 800m and will progress to the next stage, alongside Jaxon Holmes, who finished second in the 110m hurdles. Mike Cortez's fourth place in the 400m also earned him a spot at Area. The 4x400m relay team, comprised of Charles Cortez, Cortez, Lounds and Holmes, finished third, ensuring their advancement. Matthias Leach finished first in the high jump and triple jump. The Rangers, with 96 points, secured a commendable 4th place overall. Their remarkable performances, including numerous personal records and school records broken, are a testament to their dedication and hard work. The Area track meet is scheduled for April 11th at Ranger Stadium, where the Rangers are poised to continue their impressive run.
The girls team also had several qualifications to Area. Assata Howard finished second in the triple jump and third in the long jump, while Kristen Crawford secured second in the shot put. The 4x200m relay, consisting of Jurnee Davis, Erica Hill, Howard and Halen Jones, ran well and finished fourth, earning a spot at the Area Meet. Mikalette Thompson claimed second place in the 400m, and the 4x100m relay, comprised of Madison Gilmore, Thompson, Lacie Rusk and Nia Hoyle, emerged as District Champions. With a total score of 67 points the team placed sixth overall.
Rangers who qualified for the Area Meet will compete at Chisholm Trail High School on Apr. 11.
