The Rangers had a great home meet at the Ranger Invitational on Friday, Mar. 22. The varsity girls team displayed outstanding performance, clinching first place overall. Katelynn Moore won the silver medal in the 3200m, while Lacie Rusk won silver in the 800m and Marissa Ramirez earned third in the 100m hurdles. Mikalette Thompson soared to victory in the 400m, setting a new season's best of 58.28 and claiming the gold medal. Nia Holye was not far behind, earning second in the same event. Katelynn Moore placed third in the 1600m and the 4x400m Relay of Thompson, Rusk, Gilmore and Hoyle won the gold medal. Assata Howard placed third in the triple jump while Miley Houston won the discus event and Kristen Crawford took gold in the shot put with Madison Denton securing silver in the same event.
The boys team placed third overall. Ezzerin Lounds led the 800m race from start to finish and brought home the gold medal. Jordan Freeman took fourth in the 100m with a new personal record. Elijah Norwood's dominance was evident as he secured gold in both the 3200m and 1600m races, with Xavier Mendez close behind with a silver medal in both events. Matthias Leach emerged as the star of the night for the boys, earning two gold Medals in the triple jump and high jump.
The Rangers are back in action this Thursday, Mar. 28 at the Bullfrog Invitational at Lake Worth.
