Chisholm Trail cross country excels at District 3-6A Meet; Boys team advances to Regionals

The Chisholm Trail Ranger cross country team delivered an outstanding performance at the district 3-6A cross country meet, held at The Buff on Friday, October 13. The boys team secured their spot at the regional meet by clinching a remarkable third-place finish as a collective force. Senior Elijah Norwood emerged as the team's top finisher, claiming second place overall with a strategically executed race. Sophomore Xavier Mendez earned sixth place, while junior Elijah Milton took the 20th spot. Senior Alejandro Mendoza took 25th place and sophomore Angel Hernandez played a pivotal role, finishing 29th helping the team secure the third place team ranking. Coach Gifford expressed his pride, stating, "All of these young men ran their best on Friday morning, leading the way for the team's regional qualification."

On the girls side, the team finished fourth overall, showcasing immense promise, especially among the freshman members. Freshman Katelynn Moore was the girls top performer, earning a medal within the Top 20. Freshman Briseis Cavarrubio and senior Teah Peeni finished 21st and 22nd, respectively. Coach Gifford highlighted the mentorship of Peeni and Tatiana Mendez, emphasizing the bright future for the girls team.

The boys team will compete at the Regional Championships at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Good luck Rangers!
