Ranger gymnastic teams competed in the Regional Championship at Trinity High School on April 11-12. The boys team posted a school record on both days to take second place overall. Senior Paul Herrera led the team with a second place finish in the All-Around while earning the Regional Champion title on vault. His other event placements included second on rings, fourth on pommel horse, fifth on high bar, sixth on floor and seventh on parallel bars. Senior Zachary Phillips finished third in the All-Around and was the Regional Champion on high bar. He was second on parallel bars, third on vault, eighth on pommel horse and 10th on rings. Senior Zak Travis earned fourth in the All-Around with event finishes on second on pommel horse, fourth on floor, fifth on rings, sixth on parallel bars, seventh on high bar and ninth on vault. Sophomore Marshall Osman was ninth in the All-Around.
The girls team finished fifth out of 12 schools. Senior Kylie Miertschin finished in the top 10 on the balance beam for the third year in a row. Additionally, she met the criteria to compete as an All-Around competitor for the second consecutive year.
The Rangers and Kylie will compete at the State Championships at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station on April 28-29.
