Rangers advance 15 athletes to Area

Chisholm Trail hosted the District 3-6A Championships on April 5-6. The varsity girls placed second with 97 points in the eight team meet. The 4x100m relay consisting of Tyra Davis, Anija Simpson, Sydney Allen and Nia Hoyle and the 4x400m relay with Lacie Rusk, Mikalette Thompson, Madison Gilmore and Hoyle were district champions. The 4x200m relay also advanced to Area finishing in second place. Members included Allen, Thompson, Halen Jones and Simpson. Madison Watkins was the district champion in the long jump at 17'11" and second in the high jump at 5'0". She was high point individual with 18 points for the team. Allen was second in the 100m with 12.46 and Simpson was fourth with a 12.46. Nia Hoyle took second in the 400m with a 59.83.

The boys varsity team placed sixth with 73 points. Dadrian Calhoun was first in the triple jump at 45'8" and Collin Lusk was second at 45'5". Omari Johnson was fifth with 42'5". Calhoun was second in the long jump at 22'3" and third in the 200m with 22.31. Calhoun was the high point individual for the team with 25 points. Hayden Norwich was district runner-up in the shot put and discus. Gabriel Rosas finished fourth in the 3200m with a PR of 10:16 and Elliot Gonzalez was fourth in the 1600m with a time of 4:41. Jaxon Holmes was fourth in the 110m hurdles.

The Area Championships will be held at Keller High School on April 12-13. Good luck Rangers!
