Janine Smith
Janine Smith is the Head Volleyball Coach and the Girls Athletic Coordinator. Coach Smith is the all-time winner in wins at Chisholm Trail with 138 and counting. She led the Lady Rangers to a playoff appearance in her second season, and a bi-district championship in her third season. In 2021, the Lady Rangers won a school record 26 games in just their second season in 6A.
She was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and is proud to say she is a National Champion. Her Texas Longhorn Volleyball Team won the NCAA Championship in 1988.
After graduation, she coached at the University of Colorado for a year in 1993. In that year in Colorado, the Buffs won the Big 8 Championship. In 1994, she became the head volleyball coach at the University of Texas at Arlington, a position she held for 10 years. After her tenure at UTA, she was an educator at Azle ISD for 11 years and coached youth athletics. All together, Coach Smith has coached volleyball for nearly 30 years.
Coach Smith is married to Warren Smith and together, they have two beautiful daughters Brooke and Natalie.
