Ken Cook
Ken Cook after graduating from Sanger High School in 1967 received his B.S. degree from North Texas State University in 1971 and his M.Ed. degree in 1974.
He coached for a year at Groesbeck Jr. High School and then spent two years at Carroll Jr. and Carroll High School. Ken went back to his hometown of Sanger, where he was the director and head coach for boys’ basketball, head baseball coach, varsity football assistant and implemented and coached the golf program at Sanger High School.
In 1979, he began a very long and successful coaching career at Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas where he has been the Athletic Coordinator, UIL Coordinator, and head boys’ basketball coach. In the year of 2002-03, he served as the Interim Athletic Director. At Carroll, he has been a teacher, the head boys’ basketball coach, and head baseball coach for six years and defensive coordinator for seventeen years. Each team he has coached, be it baseball, football, or basketball have consistently been district, regional and state champions. He retired from Carroll in 2003.
As a Coach at Southlake Carroll, he has coached four All-star games and holds five state championships (3 in football as the Defensive Coordinator in ’88, ’92 and ’93, 1 in basketball as Head Coach ‘93, and 1 in baseball as Head Coach ‘82). He was also the Interim Athletic Director during Carroll High School’s Football State Championship in 2001. Ken is a Past President of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC). He has served on numerous committees, been honored as the TABC State Coach of the year in 1993 and other awards that are too numerous to mention.
Ken also was elected to the T.H.S.C.A. Board of Directors in the summer of 2000 and served for four years.
Ken then did a retire / rehire as the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach and Girls’ Athletic Coordinator in the Eagle Mountain/Saginaw I.S.D. at Boswell High School. In 2015, Ken set a career-winning record as a head Basketball coach of 728 wins in 40 years as a Head Basketball Coach.
In 2015, Ken put down his whistle and retired again. He then took on a part-time position with Eagle Mountain Athletic department as Athletic Facilities Coordinator. In that position, he oversees three football stadiums, handles the UIL paperwork for the district, deals with some facilities issues and is in charge of all playoff games for all sports at Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. In his spare time, he plays quite a bit of golf at the Resort at Eagle Mountain Golf club.
Ken and his wife Kerry live in the Resort on Eagle Mountain Lake. Kerry is also a teacher, and has taught seventh-grade math at Carroll for 26 years. She is now teaching in the Eagle Mountain/Saginaw ISD. Their son Casey received his Master's Degree from Oklahoma State and is in Houston working as a financial auditor. He is married and has two children. Their daughter Courtney also graduated from Oklahoma State University and is now working for a pharmaceutical company in Kansas City, Kansas. She is married and has one child. She is married and has one child.
